Jim Urban- Former PGA Tour Player, and 2-Time Illinois PGA Player of the Year
“My name is Jim Urban. I’m a life member of the PGA of America, and I’ve been teaching our sport for close to forty years and I played on the PGA Tour. I’ve been quite fortunate to have had some of the greatest golf instructors during my career including a former Ryder Cup captain and world renowned instructor John Jacobs, Paul Runyan former PGA champion and a wizard with the short game, and Tom Weiskopf’s instructor, Bob Keplar. I have received very specific golf instruction from Stacy and my game has improved immeasurably. I appreciate his help and wisdom and I now put Stacy in the same league as the other great golf instructors that I have worked with. Stacy possesses great teaching ability for any and all players.”
Rick Witmer - 2 Time & Back-to-Back Men's Club Champion at Eldorado C.C. McKinney, Texas
"Coach Mapel worked with me right before I decided to try and qualify for the U.S. Mid-Amateur and the U.S. Amateur. I only missed the U.S. Mid-Am by 1 shot. He was a big reason for my success in those tournaments. He was amazing in the fact that he took my natural ability and helped me to become a much more consistent ball striker. In 2017 and 2018 I was able to accomplish my lifelong goal of winning my Club Championship. Coach Mapel is one of the best golf instructors out there!"
Andrew Heffley - Ft. Worth, Texas
"Over the years I had mostly worked on my swing by myself. I’d been able to make some progress but had gotten completely stuck at about a 4 handicap. It took Stacy exactly one lesson to identify what I needed to change. Four months later I shot my lowest round of golf in 10 years. Stacy is the type of instructor who has a very sharp eye for swing fundamentals. He is a classic student of the game, yet at the same time will bring modern technology into his teaching when he feels it is necessary. At the proper time Stacy will bring a no-nonsense approach to his teaching, stating facts and why they are important. But he does so in a good way. Spending time with Stacy on a practice tee is both fun and educational. He has a very genuine interest in his students improving."
Presley Darnell - Ft. Worth, Texas
"Stacy Mapel is a remarkable teacher of the game of golf. For years, I have bounced around from a 4 to a 9 handicap, and for the past year had been struggling with both my putting and my golf swing. I’m an ardent student of the game, and thought I could figure it out myself by watching videos and pounding balls. As a member of Hawk’s Creek, I had heard of Stacy’s prowess as a golf instructor for years, but stubbornly refused to seek his help. Once I did, the results were immediate. Stacy’s approach for both putting and for swinging a golf club is that everything starts with the fundamentals. After only one putting lesson, and three swing lessons, Stacy had me back on track. I’m now playing some of the best golf of my life, and even had a hole in one last week! Thank you Stacy Mapel!"
Mike Gooden- 2012 Western Texas Amateur Super Senior Champion
"Over the last couple of years, as I reach my "Golden Years", I have observed a steady decline in my ball striking and more specifically my scoring. My handicap had risen several strokes, i.e., from a single digit to a double digit. After the first lesson wherein he made just three adjustments, one to my grip, one to my stance and one to make it easier for me to turn on the ball, suffice it to say the adjustments were simple and minimal yet highly effective. I shot rounds in the 70's four of the next five rounds including a 73 and 74 and I am 74 years old. I have since seen Stacy again for some chipping advice and I must say that those results were instantaneous. It is obvious to me that he is a real student of the game and he has an uncanny way of transferring his knowledge to the student."
Alex Sleeth - Ft. Worth, Texas
Stacy is an absolutely incredible golf instructor capable of improving the game of any player of any skill level at any point along their golf journey.
I have casually played and had varying levels enjoyment for golf for nearly 20 years. I had never taken a lesson, and my game had always taken the shape of whatever pointers I had picked up from playing partners, YouTube, and old habits and mechanics from other sports (mostly baseball for me). I'm certain that this experience is similar to many others who may be reading this. Needless to say, I've never really been able to put it all together into anything that resembled skill, and I had allowed it to negatively affect my thoughts about the game as a whole. I've been the highest handicap amongst my group of friends and finally decided that I was tired of being that guy.
Stacy has started to rebuild my game from scratch. His understanding of golf fundamentals and human biomechanics is astounding. He understands that there isn't a one size fits all approach for players. He adapts his teachings to you based on your goals, dimensions, flexibility, and more. After only two lessons (in 8 days), I am not only making consistent contact, but I also understand the thoughts behind what I'm being taught. I can now make a swing and understand why I got the result I did; good or bad. He may not recognize it, but what he is really doing is making the game fun for me again by giving me confidence in a sport that I have never had confidence in. I already have 4 more lessons scheduled, but I'll keep coming back until he's tired of me. My only regret is that I didn't find him 20 years sooner.
If you have found your game is stuck in neutral and are considering golf instruction, I can not recommend Stacy Mapel more highly.
Corbin Franco - Ranger College Golf Team Member & Former # 1 Player for the Burleson Centennial High School Golf Team
"Stacy Mapel, PGA Instructor, is more than a swing coach. He has developed all parts of my game including my short game, ball striking, swing technique, putting, mental game and even working out to get stronger. He believes in his students and always pushes you to be your best and achieve your goals. I can't thank him enough for the amazing improvement he has developed in my game."
Lindel Frater -Former Olympic Sprinter
"I took 5 lessons with Stacy and wow!!!! I was low 90s to high 80s golfer. After 3 lessons I’ve shot 80 twice and an 81. Just got done with 2 more lessons and I can’t wait to go play. I smell 70's in my future. Call Stacy. You won’t regret it."
Ryan Siddique - Former # 1 Player for the University of Texas at Dallas Golf Team
"I started working with Stacy when I was 17 years old. After high school I was a walk-on at the University of Texas at Dallas golf team. I played in my first ever NCAA tournament at the John Bohmann Memorial Tournament in Saledo, Texas, and won Medalist honors with rounds of 67-69=136. Recently I tied for the first alternate position for the Texas State Open at Holly Tree C.C. in Tyler, Texas with a round of 70 (-2). I could not have done it without Stacy’s help. I highly recommend him!
Matt Smyers- North Richland Hills, Texas
"I've been playing golf for about 20 years. I feel that I have always had the potential to be close to a scratch golfer but have never had the direction or instruction needed to reach that level. With Stacy, I have found that direction. I've taken 4 golf lessons from Stacy over the past few months. Since seeing him, my consistency and confidence have been at an all-time high. I even shot a career low of 68, with 5 birdies. I have hit some of the purest shots of my life the past few months and it has shown on my scorecards. My dad also went to see Stacy and after 1 lesson, shot a 72. It was the best lesson he has had in his over 50 years of playing golf. With Stacy's direction, I now have the knowledge and tools to become the golfer I've always wanted."
Shane Beck - Trophy Club, Texas
"Stacy is the man! I'm a visual person and his use of training aids, along with his ability to communicate a "feel" is second to no one.
I usually would play a round below 80 and most days it felt like work. I turned my game over to him and said "make me better". He improved my grip, alignment and swing plane in a way that I can maintain in the future. I recently shot a 2 under par 70 at Hawks Creek Golf Club. My lowest round to date. I also really appreciate his attention while giving a lesson. No phone or personal contact interruptions, he gives you his undivided attention. Lastly, I've not only found an excellent golf instructor, I've made a good friend too! No matter your skill level, he can and will help you get better."
Daniel Saxon - Texas
"I had five lessons with Stacy and saw improvement after each one. He really helped my iron game, which was my main focus. His guidance has improved my consistency with each club in my bag."
Lance Hansen - Texas
"So far I’ve had three lessons with Stacy and they’ve been fantastic. I’ve had two ball striking lessons and one putting lesson and I’m already hitting the ball and putting so much better than I was and I feel so much more confident. If you’re looking to improve your golf game do yourself a favor and take some lessons from him!"
Don McCallum – Bedford, Texas
“I have known Stacy for 26 years, and I have been one of his students’ for 24 of those years. While under Stacy’s instruction, taking things one step at a time, I have gotten my handicap down to a 7. Stacy focuses on fundamentals and does not fill your head with too many thoughts at once. Since I started taking golf lessons from Stacy I have shot one round of even par (72), and I have matched my age (74), not to mention 2 holes in one.”
Charles Pantangco- Former # 1 Player for the University of Texas at Dallas Golf Team
"When I started with Stacy I was a college golfer with a golf swing that was effective 70% of the time and a mental game that was weaker than weak. I would shoot 74 on a good day and 85 on a bad day. My misses were off the charts and my swing would not hold up under the pressure in final rounds of college tournaments. Working with Stacy helped me to improve in every aspect of my game. Three months into working with Stacy, I shot the lowest two day total of my career of 72-71=143 in trying weather conditions, to finish Runner-up at the Hendrix College Spring Classic in Danville, Arkansas. I can honestly say that working with Stacy has not only improved my game on the course, but his mental approach in my game has helped me off the course as well. He will go the extra mile and take time out of his day to help you improve as a player. He is truly passionate about what he does and it shows in his instruction."
Mrs. Myra Savage – Grapevine, Texas
"Before I started working with Stacy I was consistently shooting between 120-130, every time I went to play. After about our sixth lesson together, I played Chester W. Ditto golf course in Arlington and shot an 85, and I didn’t even take a MULLIGAN! The thing I like the most is he keeps it simple which makes it easy for me to learn. The teaching aids that he has used with me during my lessons have been very effective, and I found them easy to use at home, especially in practicing my takeaway. I consistently shoot in the high 80’s now."
Justin Parker - California
"I had a great experience working with Stacy. I am 32 and have been golfing for over 20 years. I played in college, have worked with many professionals and I still maintain a mid-low single digit handicap. Stacy was the best instructor I have been to for a number of reasons. He started with the absolute basics - no one has made an adjustment to my grip since I was 12! - and clearly explained how little things were causing problems with my timing and sapping clubhead speed. He gave me simple drills to work on between lessons and the tools to help me understand whether or not I was succeeding. After a few lessons, I was hitting some of the most consistent baby-draws down the range that I ever have in my career. It is great to go out on the golf course and feel confident in my swing again!"
Frank Mitcham - Grand Prairie, Texas
"I have been playing golf for 65 years and have taken lessons in California, Arizona, Colorado and Texas. I have had good instructors and average instructors, but nobody I went "wow" over until I went to Stacy Mapel for instruction. NOBODY has ever been this professional and this astute in transforming my golf game. Where was he 40 yrs. ago? Stacy, by far, has helped me play the type of golf I have wished. He really stresses fundamentals and solved issues that no one else achieved. I am 73 yrs. old and my last 3 rounds have been 80/81/80. If my putting hadn't gone south, I would have easily shot in the 70's. Stacy Mapel is the best!"
Patrick Caldwell - Mansfield, Texas
"Stacy really understands the golf swing and how to communicate it. He goes about teaching the swing in a very simple approach and builds from a solid foundation. He explains the need and the how to gain flexibility and strength in places that individual is lacking. With his instruction and willingness to improve, a golfer of any level can reach their golfing goals. I have played for 5 year and with his instruction over two lessons and a couple months, my game has never been in a better place. I have gone from the average round of 85 to being in the 70s on a consistent basis, as well as finally shooting even par."
Christian Muriel - Arlington, Texas
"Let me start off by saying, "WOW". I've just picked up golf not too long ago (about a year ago) and practice everyday. I knew I needed lessons but it wasn't until Stacy explained to me a different body types and how it affected my swing, that I knew I needed to get lessons from Stacy. I use to shoot in the hundreds, but with Stacy's help I'm consistently shooting in the low 90s and breaking 80. That was with One lesson! I'm excited to see what future lessons and playing lessons will do for me."
David Coker - Ft. Worth, Texas
"Had a golfing friend consistently beat me by 10-15 strokes. I took 5 lessons with Stacy, I won by 5 strokes. He’s very patient, and finds the holes in your game and seals them up! Appreciate it, Stacy!"
Devon Petty - Burleson, Texas
"I could not have asked for a better experience. Coach Mapel, can work with any player at any skill level and build the foundation for long term progress and improvement in the game of golf. I have personally recommended Stacy to several friends and family members, and I will continue to do so. Fantastic Coach with the knowledge and skill set to back it up."
Jason Davis - Ft. Worth, Texas
"I recently had the opportunity to work with Stacy Mapel on 2 different occasions for improvement with putting. I found it to be excellent, I learned a lot about what I could change or improve to make all aspects of my putting better! I have seen a drastic change in my putting already! I played a round a little over a week ago & had 6 birdies! I have never had more than 3 birdies in a round ever! I am much more confident now & have a whole new outlook on putting! Thanks Stacy!"
Lee Spilker - Colleyville, Texas
"I started taking lesson with Stacy in the fall of 2013. I had loved the game and played a lot but was not getting any better on my own, despite my own stubborn opinion that I could. So, I decided to find an instructor and after reviewing several, decided to go with Stacy. I am very glad I chose to work with Stacy and he chose to work with me. At our first lesson, Stacy was able to evaluate and identify my strengths and weaknesses and provide commentary on opportunities and how to achieve them. He is very good at explaining the "why" behind things and the way the golf swing works. I especially enjoy how he has simplified my swing. There is nothing complex about it. The biggest help he provided was the homework assignments. I know if I didn't practice the drills he gave me on a nightly basis, I would not be where I am right now. My aim was to get better at golf so I could enjoy my time on the course more and not be embarrassed about the way I play. Well so far so good! I am more excited than ever to play and PRACTICE. I will continue to use Stacy as my instructor because I am comfortable with him and he seems to be on my page. Meaning he doesn't talk over my head or make me feel bad about my game. He has been an enthusiastic supporter of my growth and development. I definitely recommend Stacy as your next golf teaching PROFESSIONAL!"
Dick Smith - Arlington, Texas
"I am a Senior Citizen and enjoy playing golf about once a week. I decided to try to improve my game by taking a couple of lessons. Stacy Mapel was recommended to me by a gentleman that owns a driving range. I took four lessons from Stacy in November 2018 and he helped my game in a couple of ways. First, he was able to correct my grip from an interlocking grip to the Vardon grip and he was able to help me with my short game. He taught me a better way to chip and pitch from short distances. I found Stacy to be very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Great personality. This was my first time to take golf lessons and I feel it was well worth the time and money."
Bob Carroll - Grapevine, Texas
"I love the game of golf, but could never get above average. Approaching retirement and plan on golf being my ‘ hobby’. Being a self taught golfer, I picked up lousy habits, in terms of grip, stance, putting, all areas of the game. Figured it was time to improve my game thru professional instruction. I learned of Stacy Mapel thru the golf center of Arlington driving range, I became aware of classes and clinics that Stacy conducted at the range and I signed up. My golf game has improved dramatically, and still is, I am quite pleased with the results. I respond well to Stacy’s method of teaching. Thru video and other aides, I was clearly able to see how my bad habits would not allow me to become a better golfer. Stacy, thru the use of these same aides, as well as hands on instruction,, and clear precise direction and illustration on all phases of the game, from the proper stance, to the grip, weight shift, putting, chipping and every other facet of the game. Stacy has a calm, reassuring and patient way of teaching that shows its results in his students becoming not only better golfers, but in my case, understanding also, where the flaws in my game were, so I can
improve on them and have. Without hesitation, I would recommend Stacy as your golf pro, regardless if you are a beginner or someone
needing a tune up in your game."
Tom Wilson - Arlington, Texas
"I met Stacy several years ago when I took up golf in my mid-fifties. I found Stacy to be an excellent instructor who customized his coaching around my particular skill level and athleticism (or lack there of in my case, Ha)! Last Fall I signed up for Stacy’s adult group instruction which proved to greatly exceed my expectations. I expected that Stacy’s personal, customized instruction approach would suffer since we were a group, but I was blown away with how much time Stacy was able to spend with each of us, working on our particulars. I highly recommend you do yourself a favor and sign up for lessons with Stacy. Whether individual or group sessions you’ll come away with an improved golf game."
Doug Boston – Colleyville, Texas
"The golf instruction that I have received from golf pro, Stacy Mapel, has been a very enjoyable experience. He is thorough and precise in the procedures and techniques he offers without making you feel rushed in any way. He will not move on to another item of instruction until he is satisfied that you have grasped what you have learned and are comfortable with it, and can perform it with a reasonable degree of consistency. He has definitely helped me to strike the ball better, and I feel more relaxed doing it."
Jack Strawther- Bedford, Texas
"After being an occasional golfer for years, I decided it was time to learn to play the game at an acceptable level I was leading the frustrated life of a duffer and I was not seeing improvement even though I was hitting buckets at the driving range several times a week, it is at this point that I contacted Stacy Mapel. From the first lesson it was very evident that Stacy understood the mechanics of the body, stance, and swing and was a teacher at heart. My overall consistency improved immediately. The mental aspect was huge a s well. I now know that when I practice, the practice is beneficial because I am developing the correct muscle memory. I cannot over emphasize the positive mental aspect of knowing that my practice is now not a wasted effort. Do I occasionally drift back into some bad habits? Yes, but Stacy is great at tune-ups and quickly gets me back on track. I am a big fan of Stacy both as a teacher and a person."
Blake Clevenger- Amarillo, Texas
"Meeting Stacy has been the best thing to happen to my golf game. I met him accidentally at the golf range a little over a year ago. Within 10 minutes of working with Stacy, he had significantly reduced my slice, and my distance and trajectory had improved. When I met Stacy I was shooting in the high 90’s. I had always desired to get better, but I did not understand what a true golf swing looked like, or felt like, or how to improve my shots. After taking a series of golf lessons with Stacy, I learned practical ways to improve my game. I developed an understanding of what a good golf shot should look and feel like, instead of going to the range “hoping” to fix my swing and hit better shots. I could go to the range to strategically practice something to help improve my game. With a few lessons I was able to strike the ball with confidence and consistency. After a few months I was shooting in the 80’s, and even had one round in the 70’s."
Kim E. Luce – North Richland Hills, Texas
"Having played golf for 30 years I was lucky to be introduced to Stacy Mapel, as I wanted to improve my golf swing. After just three months I had improved my ball striking significantly. His professional teaching methods helped me with all aspects of the golf swing in an easy to understand philosophy. Instead of beating buckets of balls at the driving range and hoping for quick cures and fixes, after a few lessons from Stacy he improved my golf swing tremendously. I have improved my handicap by 8 strokes, and now have the confidence in my golf swing that I never had before. Stacy is a true professional, as a person and as a PGA licensed golf instructor."
Greg Hughes – Irving, Texas
"When I took my first lesson with Stacy, I had been playing golf for a year and a half, and had a push slice that I could not get rid of. I had taken lessons before from an indoor facility, quite religiously, but was getting nowhere. Within the first lesson, Stacy recognized the flaws and by the end of that first lesson I hit the ball straight for the first time. I have continued my lessons with Stacy and my swing just keeps getting better. I’ve had people on the range ask me how long I’ve been playing for, and when I tell them they can’t believe it. I’ve had comments like” Wow, you’re way ahead of the game for the amount of time you have been playing”. Recently at a local golf course I had a foursome ask if they could watch me tee off as they wanted to watch a proper golf swing. I attribute this to the time I’ve put in having lessons with Stacy. Do I still have off days at the range or course? Of course I do, but Stacy has taught me fundamentals that I use to recognize when I’ve changed something about my swing, and now I have the ability to self-correct. If you are serious about getting better at golf, then I highly recommend giving Stacy a call, because I can tell you that he will be serious about helping you."
Harrison Mock - Grapevine, Texas
"It was great getting golf tips and advice from Stacy. His Golf Academy is way easy to learn and improve your game while having fun!
Harry Lennard - Bedford, Texas
"Stacy really knows the golf swing, and more importantly knows how to teach it."
